What is the Georgia Stewart Scholarship?
It as a $500 scholarship granted to a teacher or teachers who are looking to further their education, both personally and for an enhanced classroom experience. It was inspired by Georgia Stewart, who taught in a one-room schoolhouse and believed in creative teaching styles. This scholarship wishes to support teachers with a similar spirit and passion for teaching in her memory.
What will the recipient receive?
The Winner will receive $500 to use on furthering their education.
--Please Note: The Georgia Stewart Scholarship reserves the right to divide the award among multiple winners. For example, 1 $500, 2 $250, or 5 $100 awards.
Who can enter this contest?
Any public school teacher, any grade, any subject!
Who judges the applicants?
Georgia Stewart Scholarship partners with Arts Council for Youth to provide the scholarship. The boards of both organizations evaluate each entry.
What are the judges looking for in applicants?
The most important aspect desired in applicants is a passion and belief in creative and inspiring teaching. Because the Georgia Stewart Scholarship is looking to support creative teachers, they retain an open-minded attitude towards applicants. The scholarship does not necessarily only apply to education that furthers applicants' classroom skills directly, it can be holistic support for the teacher as well.
When is the deadline?
March 1, 2015. If you have any questions or are mailing it on the March 1st, you may email [email protected], "Georgia Stewart Scholarship" in the subject line, to notify us.
When will the recipient be notified?
Around April 1, 2015. We will then arrange how to get the payment to you.
Do I have to do anything?
Georgia Stewart Scholarship requests that you send a picture of you in the class you take or in your own classroom setting for us to share on our "Previous Winners" page. Other than that, enjoy your class!
